BROWN TRACT POND CAMPGROUND, DEC, NYStatus: Closed through Thu May 20 2010 Max reservation window: Sat Aug 21 2010 DescriptionTucked away in seclusion a short way off the main tourist route, this jewel of a campground remains one of the best kept secrets in the Adirondacks. The remote Adirondack setting of this facility offers a relaxing, quiet beauty all its own. The campsites offer privacy; they are large and well-forested.Geography:Brown Tract Pond Campground is located on the east shore of 146-acre Brown Tract Pond. Development of this campground commenced in 1957 and was completed in 1958. Recreation:Visitors may rent or bring their own rowboats and canoes. Anglers will enjoy fishing for rare brook trout and more common smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, sunfish, yellow perch, brown bullhead, sucker common shiner, and golden shiner. The park offers nearby trails to Black Bear Mountain, Bug Lake, Eagle Lake, and Eighth Lake. Unmarked trails lead to Shallow Lake and West Mountain. Bicycling is also an option here. Facilities:The park has tent and trailer sites, a picnic area with tables and fireplaces, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, and a recycling center. WHEN YOU ARRIVE - You must sign for your own site. Have your equipment with you and be ready to camp when you register. The names of all campers staying on a site must be listed on the camping permit when you first register at the facility. CHECK-IN TIME - Is from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. Campers must register for their campsite by 9:00 p.m. on the first night of their reservation or the campsite will be subject to re-rental and all fees will be forfeited. CHECK-OUT TIME - Is 11:00 a.m. on your permit expiration date. OCCUPANCY - Is limited to 6 individuals per campsite and two tents or one unit of hard wheeled camping equipment and one tent. Only two vehicles are permitted on any individual campsite. Extra vehicles will be required to park in a designated area (additional fees will apply). AGE REGULATIONS - Every campsite must be registered and occupied by a responsible person 18 years of age or older. LENGTH OF STAY - Your camping permit can be issued for a maximum of two weeks. From July 1 through Labor Day, only 14 cumulative nights of camping will be permitted at any campground. This is to ensure that new campers can enjoy their right to camp. QUIET HOURS - Are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m., and are strictly enforced. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated by both the campground staff and your fellow campers. Violators of this policy may be evicted. GENERATORS - The use of electric generators may be limited to no more than five hours per day and fall between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily. FIRES - Must be built in fireplaces provided. Only dead and down wood may be used for fuel. No chainsaws are allowed in campgrounds, and cutting down trees, alive or dead is prohibited. Please do not use fireplaces as chopping blocks. Burning trash is prohibited. FIREARMS - Are not allowed in campgrounds except during the Fall and Spring hunting seasons. Firearms must not be discharged within campground boundaries at any time. ACCESSIBLE SITES - At least one member of the camping party staying on the site must be mobility impaired (for example, in a wheelchair or uses a walker) or the camping party may be turned away at the campground. SWIMMING - Is allowed at campgrounds with supervised bathing areas during designated hours when a lifeguard is on duty. Please note that there may be times when lifeguards are unavailable, and for the safety of our customers these beaches will not be open and swimming will be prohibited. Not all campground locations offer swimming, to inquire please contact the campground directly. PETS - Are allowed with proof of a currently valid rabies vaccination. Campers can walk dogs on a leash no longer than six feet as long as the animal is under control. Dogs cannot be left unattended and are not allowed in facility structures, on the beach or in day use areas. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet. CANCELLATIONS – To cancel a reservation more than 2 days prior to the date of your arrival, cancel online or contact ReserveAmerica at 1-800-456-2267. To cancel a reservation within 2 days of your arrival contact the campground directly. REFUNDS - Will not be issued except in cases of bona fide emergencies such as death in the family or serious accident. Supporting documentation will be required. From Adirondack Northway (I-87), Exit 23 at Warrensburg; take Rte 9 North to Rte 28 West through Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake to Raquette Lake Village; go 2 miles northwest on the dirt road.
