Scaroon Manor Campground is located on the west shore of Schroon Lake on Taylor's Point. Prior to acquisition by New York State in 1967, the site had a long illustrious history as a privately operated resort and recreation facility. The facility was a destination resort of the wealthy and offered a broad range of facilities and activities which included golf, swimming, canoeing, boating, sailing, water skiing, bowling, handball, baseball, basketball, tennis, hiking, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and roller skating. The amphitheater hosted many famous entertainers during its heyday. In 1957 the movie Marjorie Morningstar starring Gene Kelly and Natalie Wood was filmed on the grounds of Scaroon Manor.
Motor boats, rowboats, and canoes are welcome at the park. Fish include lake trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, bullhead, and pickerel. Hiking trails are nearby, and the park has picnic areas.
The current campground consists of; 60 campsites, hot showers, flush toilets, picnic areas, picnic pavilion, swimming beach, boat docks, and trailer dump station.
Restaurants, antique shops, gift stores, and various craft shops are nearby. Stone Bridge and Caves is located about 1 1/2 miles South of the campground.
