Overview
Description

Chenango Valley State Park participates in the Blue Bag Recycling Program. When you arrive at the park office, you'll receive a blue bag:

  • 1. Use the blue bag to hold your recyclable Plastic, Metal, and Glass Bottles and Cans.
    • 2. Deposit your full bag in the wire bins around the park marked with Blue Bags signs.
    • 3. Funds gained from this recycling program will contribute to other Parks programs.

We appreciate your participation in this program!

Chenango Valley State Park's two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last Ice Age glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice, which melted to form the lakes and bog. The park is popular with birdwatchers, who may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers, and thrushes along woodland trails; and herons, ducks, and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch, and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course, while wintertime visitors enjoy ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing.

Geography:

Chenango Valley State Park is located adjacent to the Chenango River, in Broome County.

Recreation:

Summer visitors enjoy the beach, biking, boating, fishing, golf, hiking, and picnicking in the sunshine. Winter visitors get to ice skate, sled, and cross-country ski.

Facilities:

Park offerings include a beach, boat rentals, cabins and campsites, food concessions, a nature trail, picnic tables, pavilions, a playground, and showers. There are water outlets convenient to all campsites.

Nearby Attractions:

Bowman Lake State Park, Fillmore Glen State Park, Robert Treman State Park, Taughannock Falls State Park and Oquaga Creek State Park are all nearby.
