Description
Hither Hills State Park offers visitors scenic picnic areas and fireplaces, sport fishing, a two-mile sandy ocean beach, a 40-acre freshwater lake, playing fields, a playground and a 190-site campground on the ocean. Anglers can fish year-round and obtain permits to fish at night. The unique "walking dunes" of Napeague Harbor are located on the eastern boundary of the park, which also has woodlands filled with Russian olive, oak, shad and pine trees. Bridle paths and hiking, nature, biking and cross-country ski trails are available.Geography:

Recreation:
Considered a flagship facility, visitors enjoy biking, horseback riding, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, and wintertime cross-country skiing. An organized recreation program in the summer includes family movies, folk and line dancing, children's summer theater, magic shows, and various environmental interpretation programs.
Facilities:
The park has a beach open from Memorial Day to Labor Day; bridle paths; hiking trails; a scenic ten-acre, handicapped-accessible picnic area with fireplaces; a playground; playing fields; courts for horseshoes, basketball, volleyball, and tetherball; and accessible campsites, with showers and dumping stations. Additional facilities include a park office, camp store, and centrally located phones. The park is patrolled by New York State Park Police and maintains a large recycling program.

Each reservation must be made under the name and information of the person who will be on the site for BOTH the reservation maker (customer) and the Primary Occupant.
Reservations are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Reselling of campsites is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
You are only allowed to have ONE 7-night reservation for Hither Hills per name, per address, per email, or per phone number during Peak Season. Peak Season runs from mid-June to mid-September.
The permit holder/Primary Occupant must be 21 years of age or older to rent a campsite and must be present at all times. Park staff will check ID upon check-in.
The J Loop is tent only sites, and generators are not permitted. Entry into this loop requires a key card. $5 deposit for each card. CASH ONLY ($5 replacement fee if lost). During Peak Season there is a 7-night minimum Sunday to Sunday restriction.

Out-of-State fees are in effect for this park.
Reservations are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Transfer/selling of sites from one party to another is STRICTLY prohibited.
Pets are NOT permitted in the park.
All sites have a platform and picnic table and are spaced throughout the park.
Each site permits a maximum of 6 people or a single family unit.
There are 4 comfort/shower stations throughout the park.
Each site allows a maximum of one RV and one tent or two tents.
Each campsite permits 2 cars. Only 1 car is allowed on the campsite. The second vehicle will be charged a $20 fee and must park in designated parking areas.
7-night reservations only in Peak Season beginning on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in designated loops.
During Non-Peak Season, the minimum stay is 2 nights.
In the event that less than the minimum stay is available (either Peak or Non-Peak) stays will be permitted on a walk-in basis; first come, first serve.
No fires permitted during the high season. In the low season fires must be in a metal container 6 inches off the ground.
Campers must check in by 9PM or risk losing the reservation.
Quiet Hours are from 10PM to 8AM and are strictly enforced.
SWIMMING: Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited. Swimming cannot be a guaranteed activity; therefore, we cannot offer refunds on camping stays. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice.
PRE-REGISTRATION: Have an existing reservation? Don't forget to PRE-REGISTER!! Two days prior to arrival you can sign into Reserve America and pre-register. IT SAVES TIME.
LENGTH OF STAY: During Non-Peak season, a camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous nights. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 48 hours before registering again for another site.
During Peak Season, you are only allowed to have ONE 7-night reservation per name, per address, or per phone number. Peak season runs from mid-June to mid-September.
Please Note: To ensure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
