Description
Jacques Cartier State Park's biggest draw for visitors are its unlimited boating opportunities and excellent fishing. The park's sheltered bay protects its sandy swimming beach and campers' dock. Large, open lawns encourage games and picnics; a playground and another, forested picnic ground are nearby.
Geography:
Jacques Cartier State Park is located just west of Morristown, on the St. Lawrence River.
Recreation:
Boating, fishing, waterskiing, snorkeling, biking, hiking, hunting, basketball, camping, and picnicking are the main activities at the park. In winter, cross-country skiing is permitted on park trails.
Facilities:
The park has a beach (with lifeguards in July and August), boat launch sites, boat rentals, dockage, campsites with showers and dumping stations, a nature trail, a picnic area, food concessions, pavilions, and a playground. Campsites are spacious, with panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River or sheltered forest. Park rangers are always on duty.
