A major renovation of Selkirk Shores State Park will begin this fall. To carry out these improvements efficiently without compromising the patron experience, the campground, cabins, and pavilions will close after Labor Day 2024 and remain closed for the 2025 season. Selkirk Shores State Park's campsites overlook a bluff on Lake Ontario. Visitors can expect outstanding fishing and spectacular sunsets. Small boats can be launched from the Pine Grove site, and larger boats from Mexico Point on the Little Salmon River. Summer hiking and biking trails are used in the winter by cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and snowmobilers. Selkirk Shores is on the direct migration route for a wide variety of bird species, so birdwatchers flock to the park.

Selkirk Shores State Park is located on Lake Ontario, in the town of Richland, in Oswego County.

Recreation:

Park activities include, biking, boating, fishing, hiking, participating in recreation programs, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling in winter, picnicking, and camping.

Facilities:

The park offers boat launch sites, campsites, dumping stations, food concessions, picnic area (with tables, pavilions, and a playground), campsites, and restrooms with showers.

Park Rules & Information:

  • Our campsites do not offer water hook-up, however fresh water fill-up is available at our filling station.
  • No substitutions or subletting of campsites or cabins.
  • No camping tents or equipment allowed in cabin area.
  • You MUST be 21 years of age or older to reserve and occupy a cabin.
  • Smoking is NOT permitted in the cabins.
  • Visitors must leave the park by 10PM.
  • Firewood available at park office. Firewood deliveries will no longer be offered.
  • A fish cleaning station is available.
  • When biking, children under 14 years old must wear a helmet.
  • Chainsaws, chopping down trees, firearms, fireworks are not allowed at the park. No skateboards, roller-blades, scooters, hoverboards, or kids battery-operated power wheels to be used in the park. Vehicles registered for the roads and bicycles are allowed.
  • Generators can be excessively loud and/or may omit fumes that can be obnoxious to other campers, especially during meal times. Therefore, operation of generators will be permitted only between the hours of 9AM to 11AM and 5PM to 9PM. Excessively loud and/or obnoxious generators will not be allowed.

  • ATTENTION PET OWNERS:

  • Current proof of rabies inoculation is required at check-in (metal tags will not be accepted).
  • At any time during your stay, pet owners may be required to provide proof of rabies inoculation upon request. Be sure to have this information available to present to park staff.
  • Where pets are permitted, there is a maximum limit of 2 pets per site.
  • Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft and under control at all times.
  • Do not leave pets unattended and always clean up after them.
  • Pet owners/permit holders are liable for any damage, personal injury, or nuisance caused by the pet.

  • SWIMMING: Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited. Swimming cannot be a guaranteed activity; therefore, we cannot offer refunds on camping stays. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice.


    PRE-REGISTRATION: Have an existing reservation? Don't forget to PRE-REGISTER!! Two days prior to arrival you can sign into Reserve America and pre-register. IT SAVES TIME.


    LENGTH OF STAY: A camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous nights. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 48 hours before registering again for another site.


    Please Note: To ensure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
