Description
Fillmore Glen State Park is an oasis of cool, dense woods crowding into a long, narrow gorge. Its hiking trails offer spectacular views, unique geological formations, including five waterfalls, and a botanically rich glen. The park has 60 campsites and a stream-fed swimming pool. Anglers will enjoy fishing in the Owasco Lake inlet. In the winter, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are permitted on unplowed roads.
Geography:
Named for U.S. President Millard Fillmore, Fillmore Glen State Park is located adjacent to Moravia, in Cayuga County. A replica of the log cabin in which President Fillmore was born is located within the park.
Recreation:
The park's favorite activities include hiking to waterfalls, hunting, picnicking, and camping, as well as winter snowmobiling. The park holds special events regularly that draw a boisterous crowd.
Facilities:
The park has a beach, cabins, campsites with dumping stations and showers, pavilions, picnic tables, a playground, and playing fields. For those who prefer the luxuries of home, the park offers a full-service cottage located on the shore of Cayuga Lake at Long Point.
