Max V. Shaul State Park is a small, quiet camping area with 30 wooded tent and trailer sites. The park has shady picnic grounds, as well as playing fields. There is a nature and hiking trail, fishing is allowed in Panther and Schoharie Creeks. A car top boat/fishing access trail to the Schoharie Creek was established in 2011. The park offers a group camping area as well.
The park's proximity to Mine Kill State Park opens many more recreational opportunities to campers. Mine Kill offers an Olympic size pool, wading pool and a diving pool at no additional cost to campers with a valid camping permit. Hiking trails, boating (by permit) and Mine Kill Falls overlook are also available to campers.
Max V. Shaul State Park is located in the Schoharie Valley at the base of Toepath Mountain.
Fishing, hiking, camping, picnicking, and wintertime cross-country skiing are popular activities here.
