Description

Oquaga Creek State Park's proximity to New York City and New Jersey makes its beach facilities and forested campsites the perfect summer escape. The 55-acre Arctic Lake has a sand beach for swimmers, and anglers can fish for black bass, bullheads and rainbow trout. The rolling, wooded hills are ideal for winter sledding. Winter visitors can also ice skate or ice fish on the frozen lake, and snowshoers and cross-country skiers can explore six miles of trails. If you like to camp, plenty of campsites are available. If you don't want to bother packing your tent and equipment, you maybe interested in a full-service vacation cottage.

The park is located three hours away from New York City and New Jersey.

Visitors will enjoy a range of activities: lounging on the beach, biking, boating, fishing, biking, hiking, hunting, and ice skating and ice fishing in winter.

Alerts and Important Information

Oquaga Creek is open from May 14 - September 5, 2010. Closed Tues. and Wed. ALL season. Oquaga Creek campsites are OPEN ONLY Thursday's thru Sunday's. Monday's, Tuesday's and Wednesday's - NO services or campsites available at the Park - the beach will be closed.

Cottage Rental still open 7 days per week from April 30 - November 28, 2010.

To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.

Pets must have valid rabies certificate. Dogs must be kept on 6 foot leash. Swimming starts Memorial Day weekend, weekends only until the 3rd Monday in June. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. While biking, children must wear helmets. Private boats with a permit are allowed on the lake from sunrise to sundown. Car top boats only, no motors. Campers are allow two vehicles at the park. A third vehicle pays a fee and must be parked in office parking lot after dark. There is a limit of 6 people per site, 2 tents or 1 camper and 1 tent. Each loop has a central comfort station and showers.

**Access Passes are not valid for Cottage rental.**

From Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse: Take Thruway (I-90) East to Exit 36, Junction I-81. Take I-81 South to the Whitney Point exit. Take Rte 206 East to Beech Hill Rd. and follow it to the park. From Albany: Take Thruway (I-90) West to Schenectady exit 25A. Take I-88 west to Bainbridge exit. Take Rte 206 East to Beech Hill Rd. and follow it to the park. From New York: Rt.17 north to exit 84 at Deposit. North on Rt.8 for three miles. Left on County Road 20, follow nine miles to park. From Binghamton: Take Rte 88 East to Bainbridge.
