Description

Rollins Pond should be at the top of your list if you like canoes, rowboats, paddle boats, or kayaks. All are available for rent at the boat launch livery site, and this long, narrow body of water provides the ideal setting for days of fun, as you take turns on all of them. Adventurers can canoe the waterway leading to Fish Creek or try their luck fishing in Whey Pond, adjacent to the livery area and stocked with trout. For landlubbers, there's hiking, bicycling, picnicking, and a summer recreation program.

Geography:

Rollins Pond Campground is located on the eastern shore of 442-acre Rollins Pond.

Recreation:

Boating, fishing, bicycling, and hiking are popular, and the park offers a recreation activities program from July to Labor Day.

Facilities:

The park offers many campsites, hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dumping station, a boat launch (25 HP or under), boat and canoe rentals, hiking trails, and a volleyball court.

Nearby Attractions:

The Adirondack Park Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smiths is 18 miles north on NYS Route 30. Lake Placid and the Olympic venues are located 25 miles to the southeast. The Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake is 50 miles south.

Alerts and Important Information

CAMPGROUND SPECIFIC INFORMATION
  • On water sites are on the pond side of the campground road. Some have hills to the shoreline. Off water sites are on the other side of the campground road. These sites have limited or no access to the pond
  • Boats cannot exceed 25 horsepower limit. This includes personal water craft
  • Garbage must be taken to a recycling area at designated times for processing. Clear plastic bags are required. Instructions will be provided directing you in recycling procedures
TO ENSURE FAIRNESS-For all NY customers, any reservation with a departure date outside the 9 Month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made
WHEN YOU ARRIVE-You must sign for your own site. Have your equipment with you and be ready to camp when you register. The names of all campers staying on a site must be listed on the camping permit when you first register at the facility
CHECK-IN TIME-Is from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. Campers must register for their campsite by 9:00 p.m. on the first night of their reservation or the campsite will be subject to re-rental and all fees will be forfeited
CHECK-OUT TIME-Is 11:00 a.m. on your departure date
OCCUPANCY-Is limited to 6 individuals per campsite and 2 tents or 1 unit of hard wheeled camping equipment and 1 tent. Only 2 vehicles are permitted on any campsite. Extra vehicles will be required to park in a designated area (additional fees will apply)
AGE REGULATIONS-Every campsite must be registered and occupied by a responsible person 18 years of age or older
LENGTH OF STAY-Your camping permit can be issued for a maximum of 2 weeks. From July 1 through Labor Day, only 14 cumulative nights of camping will be permitted at any campground.
QUIET HOURS-Are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m., and are strictly enforced. Violators of this policy may be evicted
GENERATORS-The use of electric generators may be limited to no more than 5 hours per day and fall between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily
FIRES-Must be built in fireplaces provided. Only dead and down wood may be used for fuel. No chainsaws are allowed in campgrounds, and cutting down trees, alive or dead is prohibited.
FIREARMS-Are not allowed in campgrounds except during the Fall and Spring hunting seasons. Firearms must not be discharged within campground boundaries at any time
ACCESSIBLE SITES-At least one member of the camping party staying on the site must be mobility impaired (i.e. in a wheelchair or uses a walker) or the camping party may be turned away at the campground
SWIMMING-Is allowed at campgrounds with supervised bathing areas during designated hours when a lifeguard is on duty. Please note that there may be times when lifeguards are unavailable, and for the safety of our customers these beaches will not be open and swimming will be prohibited. Not all campground locations offer swimming, to inquire please contact the campground directly
PETS-Are allowed with proof of a currently valid rabies vaccination. Campers can walk dogs on a leash no longer than six feet as long as the animal is under control. Dogs cannot be left unattended and are not allowed in facility structures, on the beach or in day use areas
CANCELLATIONS-To cancel more than 2 days prior to your arrival date cancel online or by calling 1-800-456-2267. To cancel a reservation within 2 days of your arrival contact the campground directly
REFUNDS - Will not be issued except in cases of bona fide emergencies. Supporting documentation will be required. Refunds are not issued directly at campgrounds

From the Northway (I-87), northbound: Take Exit 30, Route 9 North, to Rte 73 North to Lake Placid. Take Route 86 North through Saranac Lake to Rte 186 West to Rte 30 South. Drive 9 miles to Fish Creek Pond Campground. Rollins Pond Campground is accessed from site 135 in Fish Creek Pond Campground. From the Northway (I-87), southbound: Take Exit 38, Rte 374 West, to Rte 3 West to Saranac Lake. From Saranac Lake, follow the directions above. From I-81: Take Exit 48, Rte 342 East, to Rtes 3 & 30; then take Rte 30 North to Fish Creek Pond.
