Description

Chenango Valley State Park's two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last Ice Age glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice, which melted to form the lakes and bog. The park is popular with birdwatchers, who may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers, and thrushes along woodland trails; and herons, ducks, and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch, and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course, while wintertime visitors enjoy ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing.

Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice.
