DescriptionGilbert Lake State Park's lake and three ponds lie in wooded, hilly terrain in the foothills of the Catskills. In addition to cabins and campsites, the park has more than 12 miles of interconnecting trails for hikers, skiers, snowmobilers and snowshoers. Playgrounds and a disc golf course, as well as swimming, boating, and fishing are also featured.Geography:Gilbert Lake State Park is located in the foothills of the Catskills, north of Oneonta. Much of the park lies in the town of New Lisbon, in Otsego County. Recreation:Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, disc golf, and a softball field. In the wintertime; snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Facilities:Park visitors enjoy the beach, the boats (the park rents boats and allows car top/hard bottom/carry down boats with permits only to be launched near the boathouse), the accessible cabins and campsites (with showers and a dumping station), the disc golf course, the playground, the food concessions, and the picnic tables. Nearby Attractions:Nearby state parks include Glimmerglass State Park, Bowman Lake State Park, Oquaga Creek State Park, Chenango Valley State Park, and Hunt's Pond State Park. Other attractions in the vicinity include the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Soccer Hall of Fame, Farmers Museum, Howes Cavern, Hanford Mills Museum, and the Civilian Conservation Corps Exhibit and Nature Center. Alerts and Important Information The Hill Top Loop has been reconfigured for the 2013 season! Sites 58-76 no longer exist. Sites 1-57 have been adjusted within the loop now offering larger campsites for our patrons. Sites will be available for reservations very soon. Check back here for updates. (*Sunday-Thursday, excluding holidays) Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
Peak season: A person may be the primary site occupant for 14 total days of camping within a 16 day period. S/he must leave the park for 48 hours once they have stayed the maximum number of days allowed before beginning a new reservation. Getting There:GPS Info.
