DescriptionSelkirk Shores State Park's campsites overlook a bluff on Lake Ontario. Visitors can expect outstanding fishing and spectacular sunsets. Small boats can be launched from the Pine Grove site, and larger boats from Mexico Point on the Little Salmon River. Summer hiking and biking trails are used in the winter by cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. Selkirk Shores is on the direct migration route for a wide variety of bird species, so birdwatchers flock to the park.Geography:Selkirk Shores State Park is located on Lake Ontario, in the town of Richland, in Oswego County. Recreation:Park activities include, biking, boating, fishing, hiking, participating in recreation programs, snowmobiling in winter, picnicking, and camping. Facilities:The park offers boat launch sites, campsites, dumping stations, food concessions, picnic area (with tables, pavilions, and a playground), campsites, and restrooms with showers. Nearby Attractions:Nearby state parks include Sandy Island Beach State Park, Fort Ontario State Historic Site, Southwick Beach State Park, Westcott Beach State Park, and Fair Haven Beach State Park. Alerts and Important Information Swimming is not allowed at Selkirk Shores State Park. The former swimming beach will require a comprehensive waterfront evaluation, design and reconstruction project before this activity could return to the park. There are currently no plans or funding in place for this project. Campers may swim free of charge at Sandy Island Beach State Park located 7 miles north of Selkirk Shores. Swimming at Sandy Island Beach is open 11am to 7pm weekends and holidays beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend and Daily beginning mid-June.DID YOU KNOW you save 15-20% by reserving a weeknight* campsite? Peak Season: A person may be the primary site occupant for 14 total days of camping. S/he must leave the park for 48 hours once they have stayed the maximum number of days allowed before beginning a new reservation. Getting There:GPS Info.
